Privacy policy
Last updated 2 October 2026
LeilPay is not yet open to the public. This document is a draft that is being reviewed before launch and may change.
This policy explains what information LeilPay collects when you use the app or leilpay.com, why, who it goes to, and what you can do about it. We’ve kept it in plain language.
1. Who we are
LeilPay is provided by Life Evergreen UK Limited (“LeilPay”, “we”, “us”), a company registered in England and Wales, company number 14950266, registered office 126 Bells Lane, Nottingham, NG8 6DW, United Kingdom.
We are the controller of the personal information described here: we decide how and why it is used. For anything about your information, write to support@leilpay.com with “Privacy” in the subject line.
2. What we collect
We collect only what we need to run your account and move your money:
- Account details — your name, email address, phone number and password (stored only in a scrambled form we cannot read back).
- Identity details — date of birth, home address, nationality, the type and number of your ID document, and the document photos and selfie you provide when you verify. Photos and selfies are taken on our verification partner’s secure page; the LeilPay app and website never see the images.
- Money and transactions — your balances, deposits, conversions, transfers and payments, with their amounts, dates, rates, fees, status and references.
- People and places you pay — recipients’ names, bank or mobile money account details and crypto addresses you enter or save.
- Purchases — airtime, data, bill and gift card purchases, including the phone number, meter or account number, or email address they are for.
- Device details — if you allow notifications in the app, a notification token for your phone, its model name, and your choice to hide amounts on the lock screen.
- Messages with us — what you send to support and our replies, and requests such as closing your account.
- Technical records — the IP address, time and outcome of requests to our servers, kept to protect your account and investigate problems.
3. What we don't collect
- No advertising, analytics or tracking tools are built into the app or the website.
- We don’t ask for your location, contacts, camera, photos or microphone.
- Your app passcode and your Face ID or fingerprint never leave your phone. The passcode is kept, scrambled, in your phone’s secure storage, and biometrics are checked by your phone itself — we never receive them.
- We don’t sell your information, and we don’t use it for advertising.
4. How we use it, and why we're allowed to
Data protection law requires a reason (a “lawful basis”) for each use:
- To provide LeilPay — opening your account, showing your balances, carrying out the payments you ask for, sending receipts and telling you when a payment completes or fails. Basis: our contract with you.
- To meet our legal duties — verifying who you are, checking against sanctions lists, preventing money laundering and fraud, keeping records, and answering lawful requests from authorities. Basis: legal obligation.
- To keep accounts safe — spotting unusual activity, protecting against misuse, and fixing faults. Basis: our legitimate interest in a secure service, which also protects you.
- Push notifications — only if you turn them on, and you can turn them off at any time in your phone’s settings. Basis: your consent.
- Service messages — emails about your account, security, or changes to these documents. These aren’t marketing, and we don’t send marketing without asking first.
6. Sending information abroad
LeilPay works across borders, so your information goes to other countries. That includes the United States, where some of our payment partners and service providers are based, and the countries you send money to or from. Our servers are in Europe.
When information leaves the UK, we use the safeguards the law requires: a country the UK recognises as protecting data adequately, or contract terms approved for international transfers (the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum). Ask us for a copy of these safeguards and we’ll provide it.
7. How long we keep it
- While your account is open — what you need to use LeilPay, including your transaction history.
- After you close it — anti-money-laundering law requires us to keep identity checks and transaction records, usually for five years after the account closes. We keep them for that purpose only, then delete or anonymise them.
- Notification tokens — removed from use when you sign out of the app on that phone.
- Server records — kept for a limited time to protect accounts, unless needed to investigate a specific problem.
8. Your rights
You have the right to:
- get a copy of the information we hold about you;
- have anything inaccurate corrected;
- have it deleted — except what the law requires us to keep, as explained in How long we keep it;
- ask us to limit how we use it, or object to a use based on our legitimate interests;
- receive the information you gave us in a format a computer can read, to take elsewhere;
- withdraw a consent you gave, such as for push notifications.
Write to support@leilpay.com from the email on your account. We may ask you to confirm it’s you, and we’ll answer within one month. It’s free.
To close your account, use Account → Close my account in the app, or close it on the website. We’ll help you take out any money first — it is never kept.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk) or to the data protection authority where you live — in Nigeria, the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (ndpc.gov.ng).
9. Automated checks
Identity verification and fraud checks may use automated tools — for example, matching your selfie to your ID document or flagging an unusual payment. If an automated decision stops you from opening an account or making a payment, you can ask for a person to review it, explain your side, and challenge the decision.
10. How we protect it
- Everything between your device and our servers is encrypted in transit.
- The app is locked with your passcode and, if you choose, Face ID or fingerprint. You confirm again before money leaves.
- Balances are hidden in the app switcher, and screens with account details can’t be screenshotted.
- Access to customer information inside LeilPay is limited to the people who need it for their work.
12. Children
LeilPay is only for people aged 18 or over. We don’t knowingly open accounts for anyone younger.
13. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we’ll tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect.
